Based on our track record of proposals, we will introduce the basic information necessary for wire identification and marking considerations, divided into Steps 1-6. By organizing these, the tubes to be used and the processing method will become clear.

STEP1

Check the diameter of the target wire

The compatible diameter of general marker tubes is typically between 2φ and 6φ. This is subject to the specifications of the printing machine used.

A

2φ to 20φ: Any characters can be engraved using a computer-controlled marking machine.

B

20φ to 50φ: Can be handled using a hot stamping machine. Up to 7 alphanumeric characters (otherwise, a mold creation costing 30,000 to 50,000 yen is required).

STEP2

Confirm the maximum width of the insertion point (presence of post-installation)

If crimp terminals or connectors are already attached, there may be a step between the insertion point and the attachment point. If there is a step, select one of the following products:

1

Flat tubes: Have effective maximum and minimum widths, and can be inserted into stepped areas.

2

Heat shrink tubing: Can be post-installed using its shrink ratio.

3

Marking ties/round tags: Tie-type or tag-type that can be post-installed.

If there is no step, a general circular tube is sufficient.
STEP3

Confirm the necessity of compliance with environmentally hazardous substances

For equipment and in-panel wiring exported to Europe and North America, component selection complying with RoHS2 for environmentally hazardous substances may be required. All of our marking materials are RoHS2 compliant.

If halogen-free materials are required, please select halogen-free tubes.

STEP4

Selection of print color and tube color

The standard color for typical marker tubes is white. By printing on heat-shrink tubing in colors such as red, blue, or yellow, the following three functions can be covered by a single product:

Color-coded identification — distinguishing wire types/systems by color

Wire destination identification — clearly indicating connection destinations with printed content

Insulating cover for crimp section — combining protection and identification functions

STEP5

Confirming print content

Common print contents such as sequential numbering (1, 2, 3...) or U/V/W can be handled by off-the-shelf products. For specific customer production numbers or plant equipment, the print content may be around 30 characters, which can also be accommodated.

Depending on the number of characters, the tube length may increase to 50mm to 100mm. For long tubes, a post-installation method where both ends of the tube are secured with cable ties is also used.

Non-text designs such as specified logos can also be accommodated by creating a mold. These are widely used for inventory management of leased products, identification of delivered goods, and promotional items.

STEP6

Consideration of cut condition

When used in sequence, delivering them in a half-cut state (with a cut that allows them to be torn off by hand) improves quantity management and work efficiency.

It is also possible to deliver plain tubes without cutting, with company names, logos, or specified characters printed continuously and wound on a reel, for example, in 10-meter lengths. They can then be cut to any desired length from the reel.

Summary · Selection Checklist

STEP 1-2 · Shape

Wire diameter and presence of post-installation determine tube shape and printing method.

STEP 3-4 · Standards・Colors

RoHS2 and halogen-free compliance / Color-coded identification and printing combination.

STEP 5-6 · Printing・Processing

Number of characters, logo support / Half-cut and endless winding for improved operational efficiency.
