What is a Spiral Tube?
Differences between Fluorine and PE, and how to choose

Conclusion: Spiral tubes can be added later by simply wrapping them. Fluorine is ideal for heat and chemical resistance, and PE is best for general protection.

Spiral tubes are wire protection materials that can be added later by simply wrapping them around cables. Unlike corrugated tubes and sleeve tubes, their spiral structure is a distinctive feature. Denka Electron offers two types: PE (DP) and fluorine (DP-T), which can be selected according to the operating environment.

What is a Spiral Tube? Differences from Corrugated Tubes

Spiral tubes are wire protection materials formed in a spiral shape. Even though they are both "add-on" protection materials, they differ from corrugated tubes in structure and features.

Differences between DP (PE) and DP-T (Fluorine)

Denka Electron's spiral tubes come in two types with different materials. Please choose according to your operating environment.

DP (Polyethylene) ✓ General-purpose wiring protection ✓ Lightweight, flexible, easy to handle ✓ High cost-performance Operating temperature: For general environments DP-T (Fluororesin) ✓ For high temperature/chemical environments ✓ High chemical and solvent resistance ✓ Non-adhesive, low friction coefficient Operating temperature: For high temperature environments / industrial machinery

Chemical Resistance General Excellent chemical and solvent resistance
Coefficient of Friction Standard Low (easy wiring insertion)
Cost Economical High
Main Applications General-purpose wiring protection, harness bundling Industrial machinery, chemical plants, high-temperature environments

Applications where spiral tubes are chosen

Protection of wiring with high maintenance frequency

Spiral tubes can be removed simply by unwrapping them, making them ideal for wiring that requires regular inspection and replacement. They are significantly easier to attach and detach than corrugated tubes.

Post-installation protection for harnesses with connectors

Even with cables that have connectors or terminals already attached, you can install them simply by wrapping without having to thread them from the end. They can also be used for retrofitting existing wiring.

Wiring in high temperature/chemical environments (DP-T recommended)

For environments exposed to chemicals or high temperatures, such as chemical plants, industrial machinery, and food machinery, fluorine-made DP-T is suitable. It significantly surpasses general PE-made products in chemical and heat resistance.

Bundling and identification management of multiple cables

Also used for bundling multiple wires. The bundling tightness can be adjusted by changing the wrapping interval, which also helps in identifying wires.
